Privacy policy

We respect your privacy and handle your information carefully, in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who we are

This website is operated by the Association of Meteorological Professionals of Nigeria (“AMPON”, “we”), NiMet Complex, Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, Nigeria. You can contact us about privacy at mail2ampon@gmail.com.

What we collect

We only collect information you choose to give us through the forms on this website:

  • Contact and partnership enquiries: your name, organisation, email, phone number and message.
  • Donation notices: your name, contact details, the amount and purpose of your gift.
  • Newsletter: your email address.
  • Membership applications: your name, contact details, professional or study details, passport photograph and any supporting documents you upload. Photos and documents are stored privately and are only seen by AMPON’s membership officers; your photo is printed on your membership certificate.
  • Payments: online payments are processed by Paystack. AMPON receives the payment reference, amount and status — never your card details.

Certificate verification at /verify shows only a member’s name, membership number, category and validity.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry, process membership applications, dues and donations, and issue receipts and certificates.
  • To send the AMPON briefing if you subscribed — you can unsubscribe at any time by replying “unsubscribe”.
  • To keep records required for good governance and accountability.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we only share it with people who need it to respond to you.
